Can A Blu Ray Disc Be Played On A Standard Dvd Player?

I can not yet afford a “Blu Ray Player”….but don’t want to quit buying movies until I can. So can I buy Blu Ray discs and play them on my standard DVD player?

    nope…the reverse is true though…blu ray players are quite cheap right now though…they are not too much more than dvd players…might as well bite the bullet…nows a good time to buy

    blu ray discs do not work on regular dvd players.
    but regular DVDs work on the blu ray.

  3. No, this won’t work, but DVDs will play on a Blu-ray player and look surprisingly good.

    standard dvd’s will play on a bluray player though.

  8. no. it takes a specific laser to read a blu ray

  9. u cannot play a blue ray disk on a standerd dvd player coz i tried lol
    but if u try it wont do anything to ur disk
