Is The Sony Blu-ray (bdps350) Disc Player Compatible With All Tv’s?

I am about to purchase a SONY Blu-Ray Disc Player (BDPS350). My television set is a 32″ SONY XBR which I purchased way back in 1997, so it is obviously NOT an HD Television. Can I safely assume that this Disc Player will be able to operate on this “ancient” television? Thank you.

  1. If your tv has a s-video input or a yellow rca composite input then it will work. The greater question is why buy a bluray if you don’t have an hdtv? You won’t see any better picture than from a regular dvd player because the tv can’t display better than 480i. You should buy an hdtv then get a bluray.
If you get it anyway, you’ll have to set the output to 480i

  2. It’s all about compatible plugs. For the time being, you’ll need to see what plugs are on the back of your TV. Compare them with the plugs on the S350. Here’s a shot of the backside of it:http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/…
The BDP-S350 is one of the best deals around right now. You will eventually need to buy a TV that has the resolution to show Blu-Rays. Then a home theater system so you can hear Blu-Rays in their full glory. It took me two years, so I wish you the best of luck getting there.
