First off, I have this machine and I am extremely happy with it. The other review is obviously written by someone who doesn't know how to set the machine up correctly which is fairly easy but you need to know what settings to use especially if you go through HDMI only.

The video and audio quality equals if not surpasses most of the competition. And it should because this machine is the exact same as the Momitsu BDP-899 which is very highly regarded and is Blu-ray REGION-FREE and DVD REGION-FREE which means it can play both Blu-ray and DVDs from all regions with a code you put in by the remote control. For more info go to: [...]

Bottom line the DVD playback is worse than I current DVD player. The audio support is minimal. I have many DVD movies and bought it to view the new BluRay and play my old DVD is a better format. The playback of the DVD's has lines through out the playback is much worse than my current DVD player. I attempted to download the instructions for a firmware update. The Adobe file will not download for the instructions.
