Whats The Best Blu-ray Disc Player For The Best Price?

Whats the best deal? What brands the best? Would an xbox be the way to go since they play blu ray discs??

  1. But the xbox doesn’t play Blu-ray discs. You must be thinking of the PS3 (starting at $400). It’s the #1 rated Blu-ray player on cnet.com. Their #2 player (or #1 stand-alone player) is the Panasonic DMP-BD35. They’re currently about $280 on Amazon, but if you are a member of Costco you can pick one up for $280-$50 coupon=$230 (HDMI cable included).
    If you have (or plan to have) a surround sound system you’ll want to consider whether or not you need a player that can decode HD audio formats. The PS3 and Panasonic can decode both DTS-HD and TrueHD. Some (i.e. the Sony 350) can only decode one of them and some players can’t decode either.

  2. While there are many great stand alone blu-ray players, overall I would still have to recommend the PS3. While it’s certainly a bit more than the others, it’s overall playback quality is rated among the very best and it’s media center capabilities, coupled with being easily upgraded, makes it ideal for any home theatre setup. I’ve been working with Warner Home video on some blu-ray projects and it’s what I use to watch all my movies.

  3. Get the panasonic DMP-BD35K. It has the best picture quality and can bitstream sound out (including Dolby TrueHD, and DTS Hd master audio). It is also the first blu-ray player to get an editors choice award from CNET. It is better than Sony’s BDP-S350 because it has better performance.

  4. As far as i know, only the Ps3 blays blu ray but anyways. The best blu-ray FOR THE PRICE on the market is the Sony BDPS350. contains an ethernet port for really easy updates. Want to spend a little more, get the BDPS550. Both by Sony.

  5. The best Blu ray on the market is known to be the Panasonic… They have one of the best upconversion for regular dvd’s and there known to have the best stand alone blu ray
