I’m looking to get a home theater system for Christmas.
Money is a concern and I’m trying to get the most bang for my buck.
I’ve been doing some research on blu ray players, and I’ve discovered that there are many different types of audio codecs out there.
The one that intrigues me the most is LPCM which is uncompressed and lossless (correct me if I’m wrong). My questions are:
1. Do all blu ray movies come with LPCM soundtracks?
2. Do all blu ray players support/output LPCM?
3. If I get a player that outputs LPCM what do I need out of a receiver to not lose any sound quality?
4. Do I need to worry about any of the other codecs if I just use LPCM?
5. Are there any other issues I should be concerned about?

Sony Blu-ray Disc Player (BDPS350)
Yamaha 7.2 Channel HDMI Home Theatre Receiver (HTR-6160)
Harman Kardon 5.1 Home Theatre Speaker System (HKTS11)
and any 46″ LCD TV maybe an Aquos or Series 5 (they’re pretty well priced these days)

Does anyone know the differences between Panasonic’s BD30A and BD35K Blu-Ray disc players? I know the BD30A is older and now discontinued, but I have found a great deal on that model and wanted to know whether or not it’s worth buying as a gift. Thanks…

I was hoping to get a Blu Ray player in the future but I have a few American DVD’s.
I’ve looked up films on Blu Ray and they don’t say they will only play on region 2 or muti region players like they do with DVD’s.

I’ve heard and read on my recent xmas present – Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray and DVD combo that some players can’t play all the extras on the disc, so which has all the latest stuff to do this(like profile 2 or something) and under £300?
Basically, which is the definitive best that will last me for some years, with great pic quality, decodes HD audio and is straightforward to use?

I know that most Blu-ray Disc players can play SD DVDs, but can normal DVD players play BDs? Is there a special attachment I’d need? Like the opposite of an up-converter…so I guess it would be a “down-converter?”

i heard a bout blu ray discs. i know the ps3 plays them but i want to know hat they are. If there good and what other players play them plus the prices of the players.

My receiver I would hook a blu-ray player to is a DenonAVR988 and can decode DTS but thats all I know
Also whats the difference between HDMI output and Analog output
